Seafire model aircraft plastic kit build part three.
Finishing off the model Seafire.
On to the pre-painting stage, the aircraft was filled where required, the cockpit and wheel wells were blocked off then the model was given a few light coats of grey enamel as a primer. This shows up all the defects which are then filled and sanded down, the model then being sprayed with another primer coat. When satisfied with this the model was wire wooled down very lightly ready for the top coat paint scheme. I decided to use the standard kit scheme given for this model Seafire, this consists of Humbrol 90 beige/green underside with a two tone grey upper suface. The lower surface was sprayed first with several light coats rubbing down slightly between each application. Then the lower side was masked and the lighter of the two greys sprayed top side. Camouflage scheme was then masked and the final colour laid on with the airbrush.
This whole process was spread over days instead of hours due to the cold damp weather at the time, but in the end a good result was achieved.

The painted model was then given a coat of Klear before the decals were applied. These were a breeze to apply and pretty decent for Airfix kit transfers. The model was then sprayed with Humbrol Mattcoat.
Getting nearly there now, just the details to add and a bit of weathering. The tailwheel was put back on after being knocked off earlier and the cannons were attached. I decided to do the wheels up so these were fitted in postion, I had to pare down the wheels to get them to fit into the wing. The canopy was painted separately and fixed on with some white glue.
Finally the model was washed over with some well thinned acrylic black paint and some stains applied in appropriate places to give the aircraft a used appearance, job done and not bad for my doing.
