F-86F Sabre model aircraft kit

Fujima F-86 Sabre in 1/72nd scale, opinions and pictures.

This kit of the F-86 Sabre is manufactured by Fujima and comes on five sprues. Four grey sprues carry the parts for the airframe and loadout while one clear sprue has the two piece canopy. The clear canopy came individually bagged in my kit and is both quite thin and very clear. The moulding quality is very good indeed for both halves of the canopy with no scratches.
Moving on to the wing sprue, here you get a one piece lower wing and two upper halves. The wing mouldings are free of distortion on my example with finely recessed panel lines and control surface demarcations.

The fuselage is moulded again with recessed panel line detail and integral fin. The kit invites you to depict the model with open airbrakes, both fuselage sides have detail underneath where they fit and you also get hydraulic ram mouldings.

The other bits.
The decal sheet is large for such a small model aircraft kit.
Beautifully moulded canopy in two parts.

The engine inlet trunking is moulding in top and bottom halves and forms both the cockpit floor and the front wheel well. Side consoles are moulded onto this piece to which is fitted the seat, stick and raised detail instrument panel. Decals are on the sheet for both side consoles and the panel. Both the front fan and rear tailpipe of the turbojet are crisply moulded, remarkably so considering the deep draw on these components. The model kit comes with front and rear intake blanking covers if you choose to fit them. Using these would save the hassle of smoothing the seam down the trunking joint.
The gear has decent detail both on the legs, wheels and main doors.
Both drop tanks and sidewinder are included for loading the model Sabre.

Finally the decal sheet covers four aircraft, all of them USAF planes and all in overall natural metal finish. Register of the transfers on my kit was perfect, we will see how they go on later.

I've seen a few of these kits built. They look good when done and do justice to this elegant early jet. When I can muster up the energy for another bare metal finish aircraft I will tackle mine.
